Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Lesson Duration and Preparation?
Lessons vary in length. Students are often expected to arrive early to prepare their mount, and stay after their lesson ends to thoroughly groom and put their horse away. For students who do not yet know how to prepare their mount, we will assist in getting the student’s horse ready prior to the lesson.
What is Mounted & Unmounted Instruction?
As part of the curriculum, lessons may include both mounted and unmounted instruction. Unmounted session covers everything you need to know before getting in the saddle. Mounted instruction refers to hands-on training in equestrian riding techniques.
What should I wear?
Riders should wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. A helmet is mandatory. May be provided by instructor.
What About Late Arrival?
Lesson time spent arriving late, changing boots, putting on and adjusting helmets, doing hair, etc. means less riding time. If the student is more than 10 minutes late without notice, the lesson will be cancelled and considered an unexcused cancellation. If the rider is late by 15 minutes, the lesson will be cancelled. No make-up will be given.
What if I have to Cancel?
Late Cancellation: Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment will be subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to the full session cost.
No-Show: Failure to attend a scheduled lesson or session without prior notice will result in a charge equivalent to the full session cost. No make-up will be given.
How Do I Pay for Lessons?
All riding lessons must be paid at time of scheduling. Payment may be made via Zelle, Venmo, Cash, Apple Pay, or PayPal.
What cleaning is expected of me?
Riders must pick up all manure in the arena, barn aisles, pathways, wash rack, tacking station, and barn area. Riders are expected to clean up and sweep up the tacking area and wash rack, including mud, after use. Any debris from hooves or horse hair in either the tacking station or wash rack must be swept up and disposed of appropriately. All tack and equipment should be put away where it belongs so that it will not be lost or misplaced.
What if I bring Guests?
Any adults or children that accompany you or your child to the stable from this day forward are your sole responsibility. Coyote Creek Stables and its trainers are not liable for any injuries or damages to guests.
By scheduling a lesson at Coyote Creek Stables with any of the trainers, you agree to adhere to these guidelines and indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Coyote Creek Stables, its trainers, operators, and affiliates from any litigation, claims, damages, expenses, and losses arising from your presence at the stables.
